Contacting Your Driver During a Hail

Once a driver accepts your hail, the VI Hail app allows you to message or call the driver directly using in-app communication tools.

This helps with pickup coordination or urgent updates.


When You Can Contact or Call Your Driver

You can contact or call your driver when:

  • A driver has accepted your hail

  • The hail is en route or in progress

Contact options are not available before a hail is accepted.


How to Contact or Call Your Driver

From the active hail screen:

  1. Open your active hail

  2. Tap the contact or phone icon

  3. Choose to send a message or place a call

Calls and messages are handled within the app for safety and privacy.


Best Practices When Contacting a Driver

  • Keep communication short and clear

  • Use calls only when necessary

  • Avoid repeated calls or messages

  • Be respectful and professional


Important Notes

  • Do not share personal phone numbers

  • Communication should remain in the app

  • Drivers may not respond immediately while driving


Common Issues

I don’t see the call or message option
The driver must accept your hail before contact options appear.

The driver did not answer my call
The driver may be driving or temporarily unavailable.

My call or message failed
Check your internet or cellular connection and try again.


Safety Reminder

For emergencies:

  • Use the Call for Help (911) option from the app menu

  • Do not rely on messaging or calling the driver for emergencies
